Girls, Get Ready to Run!

If you are a girl in 4th, 5th or 6th grade, a wonderful opportunity is coming your way!

On February 1 starting at 6AM you'll be able to register for either our Girls On The Run (GOTR) or Girls on Track (GOT) teams here at Bear Creek. Being part of these teams will allow girls the opportunity to develop confidence and positive self-esteem and improve their health. Our teams will meet twice a week from the beginning of March until the middle of May when our teams will run in the Lancaster GOTR 5K!

If you are interested in learning more about the program at Bear Creek, you can visit Ms. Shenk's website or you can check out the Lancaster GOTR site.

Ms. Shenk, the other coaches, and I are all looking forward to a great season!

A Busy Week in the Bair's Den

This was a busy week in the Bair's Den! Our focus during reading this week was making connections (text to text and text to self) and we used two great Judy Blume books to look at this skill. The Pain and The Great One and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing are both stories about brothers and sisters, and ALL of us were able to make connections.

In addition to reading and working on our descriptive stories in writing, we also continued to work on our Pennsylvania regions projects. We've been working very hard to complete our research, and some groups have already started working on websites and podcasts! You'll be able to see our finished projects next week, but until then enjoy these pictures of our groups hard at work!
